Shed fire at Sandy Creek - 6 January 2026

Around 8.30am, CFS crews on 6 trucks attended a shed fire at Sandy Creek, near Gawler.

Crews arrived to find a 30m by 10m industrial shed containing an excavator, farming machinery, and tools fully involved in fire.

Approximately 30 CFS firefighters using breathing apparatus, with support from MFS crews, were able to contain the fire to the industrial shed.

Thanks to their quick and skilled response, crews were able to prevent a neighbouring shed containing 30,000 chickens from being impacted by fire - saving more than $4 million in stock and infrastructure.

SA Police and SA Ambulance also provided support to crews on the scene.

Damages are estimated around $500,000 and Fire Investigators will attend the scene.
