Machinery fire - Inkerman - 18 October 2023
At approximately 11:15 this morning, CFS crews received triple zero calls about a mattress shredder which had caught alight and spread to several large piles of mattresses, at a privately owned landfill site on Prime Road at Inkerman.
30 firefighters on 5 tankers, 3 bulk water carriers and 2 command cars contained the fire using a combination of water and foam.
No one was injured, but the machinery was destroyed and losses are estimated at 300 thousand dollars.
