House Destroyed at Kalka

SA Country Fire Service Firefighters were responded to reports of a fire in a house on Kapi Wiru Road, Kalka, in the APY Lands, just before midnight this evening.

The alarm was raised by the occupant after arriving home to find the house on fire, when firefighters arrived they found the home fully ablaze and worked quickly to contain the fire.

Despite the efforts of firefighters the tin clad home has been fully destroyed, firefighter were however able to save a vehicle parked in the driveway. Early dollar damage estimates have been set at $500 000.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined with local Police responding to investigate.

No one was injured in the fire.
