Hazardous material spill at Stockwell - 16 August

 Thursday, August 16 at 11.10pm:

Just after 10pm, CFS crews were called to the Wolf Blass winery on the Sturt Highway at Stockwell, near the Barossa Valley.

A chemical spill led to the evacuation of employees from the site until the CFS hazardous materials teams were able to contain the threat. There were no reported injuries.

The chemical was identified as velcorin- which is used as a preservative.

Although the spill is believed to be contained to the machine, crews are checking it is completely sealed, before handing it back to the owners for the manufacturers to fix.
