Farm fire near Karoonda - 11 May 2025

Three trucks carrying approximately 12 firefighters responded to Triple O to attend a structure fire at 12:40 am in a farm paddock at Anderson Farm Lane, 10 kilometres south east of Karoonda in the state’s Mallee.

Upon arrival volunteer firefighters found an ecoshelter, which was used to store hay and farm machinery, fully involved.

Using defensive firefighting techniques, the volunteers prevented the fire spreading into the farm paddock.

The farming equipment, which included items such as a rough-terrain forklift and a front-end loader, were destroyed by the fire, resulting in a $395,000 loss.

Firefighters have handed the scene back to the property owner to monitor overnight.

Fire cause have been notified.
