Cape Jervis structure fire - 19 March 2024

CFS crews were called to a structure fire at a residential property in Cape Jervis, near the western tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia at 4:30pm this afternoon.

Approximately forty-five firefighters attended the scene. CFS resources included six fire trucks, one bulk water carrier and one command car, with two fire trucks supporting from MFS. SA Police are also currently supporting, with SA Power en route to isolate power.

Firefighters arrived to find a residential property completely alight and although brave efforts were made to save the property, the house was destroyed. The intensity of the fire threatened the adjoining properties on either side and although some minor damage was sustained to the exterior, both were saved by the efforts of firefighters on scene. Crews will likely remain on site for some time to mop up and make the area safe.

Although the property occupants were home at the time, no injuries have been reported.

Fire Investigators have been notified and will be attending the scene to investigate. Losses have been estimated at $400,000.
