$80,000 header fire at Maaoupe - 8 February 2023

CFS crews and farm fire units have just left the scene of a header fire in a paddock on Rabbits and Glenroy Bool Lagoon Roads in Maaoupe.

Firefighters were on scene within approximately five minutes and contained the blaze by putting a control line around the fires edge saving nearby livestock and paddocks.

The farmer escaped the harvester with no known injuries at this time.

Total estimated damage cost is $80,000 with a harvester, bins and the produce stored within being lost.

With harvesting continuing this late into the season, CFS encourages farmers to reduce the risk of fire by regularly cleaning out dust build up in harvesters.
