$50,000 shed fire starts from old camp fire at Beedinga - 24 October 2021

At 2:04pm this afternoon CFS crews were alerted to a grass fire burning towards a shed and home on Moona Bore Road, Peebinga, in the Murraylands.

Three crews arrived to find the fire had spread into the shed, which contained a caravan, mower and other farm machinery.

The fire had consumed 8ha of grassland before reaching the shed.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and limit the damage to the shed and contents, saving a nearby home.

Damage to the shed and contents has been estimated at $50,000.

It is believed the fire started when embers flared from strong winds at an old campfire.

The CFS reminds everyone that with the Bushfire Danger Season is just one week away for some districts, it is important to make sure that any campfires or burn-offs are completed extinguished, and the ground is cold before sites are left unattended.
