$450,000 shed fire at Streaky Bay - 8 September 2023

CFS volunteers on 2 trucks responded to a shed fire on Fredrick Drive at Streaky Bay around 4:30am this morning.

On arrival volunteer fire fighters found a 5 bay, 6 by 10 metre shed alight. Crews wearing breathing apparatus got to work on extinguishing the fire and attempting to save the contents of the shed. 2 four-wheel drives and a boat were destroyed in the fire. However, the quick arrival and actions of crews contained the fire to the shed and enabled them to save a caravan, jet ski, ride-on lawn mower and a boat.

Although the shed has significant smoke damage, the landowner keeping the doors of the shed closed reduced the damage and enabled crews to save the structure.

CFS crews were supported by SA Police, State Emergency Service and SA Ambulance Service.

The total damage bill is estimated to be approximately $450,000.
