$250,000 house fire in Bridgewater

At 3:01 this morning the CFS was alerted to a house fire via a 000 call.

The single occupant of a home on Mt Barker Road, near Second Avenue, in Bridgewater managed to safely flee from the fire.

Crews arrived to find the single storey home fully alight.

In total seven fire trucks and a bulk water carrier attended the fire, with approximately 35 firefighters defending local properties and attempting to extinguish the fire.

The home was fully destroyed, with damages estimated to be between  $200,000 to $250,000.

The home owner was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

At this point the cause of the fire in unknown.

Fire cause investigators will be on scene this morning to determine how the fire started.
