Additional Information: Using Simulation to Prepare Firefighters for the unthinkable

The simulation scenarios were static scenes for the participants to walk around in, make observations, and ask questions to the facilitator. Four simulation rooms were run concurrently with one 'back of house' operator monitoring the scenarios. At scheduled breaks during the day participants were given the opportunity to undertake a self-directed familiarisation sessions to ensure they were comfortable using the joystick when navigating the scene.

The scenarios were build using XVR On-Scene 2020, for more information on the utilisation of XVR and simulation technology in training in the CFS please contact Mitchell.Fitzgerald@eso.sa.gov.au. For more information on the workshop structure and program please contact Brenton.Hastie@eso.sa.gov.au.
