Marrabel structure fire - 20 April 2024

CFS crews were called to a structure fire at a property in Marrabel, a township 100km to the northwest of Adelaide in the state’s Mid North at 4:30pm this afternoon.

Approximately forty CFS firefighters on eight trucks and two bulk water carriers have been assisted by crews from MFS, SA Ambulance, SA Police and SA Power Networks.

A fire is believed to have been started in the kitchen of the property and was spreading through the house when firefighters arrived on scene. Due to the quick control assumed by the crews, fire damage was contained to four rooms, preventing impact to much of the property. We would like to remind the community of the importance of being attentive whenever heating or cooking food in the kitchen.

All property occupants were vacated, and no injuries have been reported. Crews will remain on site for some time to mop up the area.

Fire Investigators will be attending the scene. The containment of the fire limited the damage to an approximate $250,000 loss; however, a 1.8-million-dollar house was saved.
