Fire Danger Season to end early in two districts

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) has brought forward the end of the Fire Danger Season in two fire ban districts (Kangaroo Island & Lower South East) effective from midnight on April 15th.
Restrictions in the Eastern Eyre, Flinders, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Murraylands, Riverland, Upper South East and West Coast fire ban districts will be lifted on Friday as previously planned.
CFS State Coordinator Leigh Miller said milder conditions and a greening landscape means the threat of fire has reduced.
"Even outside of the fire sanger season we ask the community to remain cautious when lighting fires and a permit to burn will still be required if a Total Fire Ban is declared after this date," he said.
"If you are planning burning-off activities you must ensure the fire does not get out of control and potentially threaten lives and property.
"CFS has developed Codes of Practice for Broad Acre Burning, and Vegetation Pile Burning which should be referred to when planning to burn.
"Although there has been some rain, there are still many areas of the state where the vegetation is dry so a fire will burn very quickly and could easily get out of control.
"Residents should contact their local council for advice on burning-off outside of the Fire Danger Season."
The Fire Danger Season for the Adelaide Metropolitan, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges and Yorke Peninsula will continue until April 30.
