Fire Danger Season ends in Lower South East

The Fire Danger Season will end at midnight on the 22nd of April for the Lower South East Fire Ban District.
From April 23rd, fire restrictions will no longer apply to the Lower South East but will continue for six Fire Ban Districts across South Australia.
CFS State Coordinator, Leigh Miller, said many landowners across the district may use the end of the Fire Danger Season to burn vegetation and woodpiles on their land.
"The end of the Fire Danger Season doesn't mean it's free rein on lighting fires. If you are planning burning-off activities you should check the Broad Acre Burning or Vegetation Pile Burning Codes of Practice to make sure the burns can be carried out safely," Mr Miller said.
"Until we have significant rains there will still be a risk and CFS urges people to be diligent to ensure a fire does not get out of control to threaten lives and property.
"When conducting burn offs near a homestead make sure all precautions are taken and contingency plans are in place to manage the fire should it get out of control.
"Locals residents can contact their local council for advice on burning-off outside of the Fire Danger Season."
A Total Fire Ban may also be declared outside the Fire Danger Season, and in this event a permit will be required and may be obtained from local councils.
