SMOKE VISIBLE ACROSS SOUTH-EAST OF SA

23/12/2012

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises that a serious bushfire is burning at Marcollat, approximately 20 kilometres west south west of Padthaway.

Smoke from this bushfire is visible in Lucindale, Naracoorte and Padthaway.

CFS State Coordinator, Mark Thomason, says that members of the public should close doors and windows until the smoke passes.

"Those travelling in the area should exercise caution as smoke may reduce visibility," he said.

"We are urging people to follow their Bushfire Survival Plan and continue to listen for updates on the situation on a battery powered radio, or via the CFS website."

People with respiratory problems are advised to stay inside and close all doors and windows until the smoke has passed.

For further information refer to the CFS website www.cfs.sa.gov.au or contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361.
