ROCKLEIGH FIRE UPDATE

20/12/2013

CFS crews are continuing to monitor and patrol the Rockleigh fire site where more than 1,000 hectares of crop and scrub was burnt during the week.

The fire was contained yesterday and there's still concern that this afternoon's weather change with forecast wind gusts of up to 40kph, may cause embers to be blown into unburnt areas and may result in fires escaping control lines.

CFS crews will remain on the fire ground until the risk has subsided.

Over the course of this incident there have been more than 300 CFS and DEWNR firefighters who have collectively spent over 4,000 hours on the fire ground.

These crews have been supported by SES and St John Ambulance volunteers, SAAS and SAPOL.

Local residents should remain vigilant and others in the area should tune-in to ABC Radio or visit the CFS website to stay informed of changing conditions.
