Beware of falling trees around Bundaleer

18/01/2013

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is advising local residents in the Bundaleer North fire affected area, including people travelling through the area, to be aware of falling trees.

CFS Regional Commander Bluey Devine says falling trees are causing hazardous conditions in the Bundaleer North area, particularly on Springs Road where 15 trees have fallen across the road.

"There is a risk of falling timber in and around the fire ground where trees that have been burnt are beginning to fall, making conditions quite dangerous," Mr Devine said.

"We ask that members of the public avoid this area where possible to reduce the risk of being injured by a falling tree."

Smoke continues to emanate from the fire ground and is drifting towards the township of Jamestown, approximately 11 kilometres north-east of the fire ground.

"There is still a fair amount of smoke being generated from the fire ground which is making visibility difficult, so we are asking motorists to be aware of this and if possible to avoid travelling in these hazardous conditions," Mr Devine said.

RM Williams Way (also referred to as Spalding Road) remains closed between Spalding and Jamestown.
