BUSHFIRE SMOKE CONCERN OVER MURRAY BRIDGE

15/01/2014

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is advising that a backburn from a fire at Rockleigh near Monarto is generating smoke that is causing some concern.

The public are advised that smoke from this bushfire is visible and moving over Murray Bridge and some parts of the Adelaide Hills.

CFS State Coordinator Leigh Miller said people should close doors and windows until the smoke passes.

"Those travelling in the area should also exercise caution as smoke may reduce visibility," he said.

"We are urging people to follow their Bushfire Survival Plan and continue to listen for updates on the situation on a battery powered radio, via CFS social media sites or the CFS website.

People with respiratory problems are advised to stay inside and close all doors and windows until the smoke has passed.

"If residents have concerns about their area, they are urged to contact the Bushfire Hotline on 1300 362 361 and if flames are visible, to contact Triple Zero immediately," Mr Miller said.
