Fire Destroys 69 Hectares at Brukunga

Just after 1pm this afternoon SA Country Fire Service Firefighters were called to a fire near Brukunga in the Adelaide Hills.

More than 60firefighters on 13appliances and two bulk water carriers worked for more than three hours to contain the fire which was burning in grassland and a small eucalypt plantation just after 4:00pm.

Ground crews were supported by four fire bombing single engine air tankers (SEAT) and two rotary aerial surveillance aircraft.

Although there were no homes under direct threat ground crews monitored the homes in the area.

The cause of the fire which burnt 69 hectares has not been determined with Bushfire Investigators from CFS and SA Police being called in to investigate.

Firefighters will remain on scene for the rest of the afternoon and tonight to black out the area and patrol to ensure the area is made safe. People travelling in the area should take care as some smoke may still be present
