SMOKE ADVICE NORTH OF ADELAIDE AND HILLS

7/11/2013

The CFS is advising of widespread areas of smoke across the Adelaide Hills and northern suburbs.

CFS Regional Coordinator Vaughn Elsworth said the smoke is being generated from a garden-waste fire in Burton and from prescribed burning activities near Cudlee Creek.

"Just over 20 CFS firefighters who are being assisted by the MFS, are at the scene of the fire at Burton which is posing no threat to property but causing a considerable amount of smoke," Mr Elsworth said.

"DEWNR is also conducting prescribed burning over a 20-hectare area in the vicinity of the Millbrook Reservoir near Cudlee Creek."

People with respiratory or cardiac conditions are advised to close doors and windows in their homes and remain indoors until the smoke has subsided which is expected to take several hours.

Motorists in both areas are also being advised to drive with caution as the smoke may reduce their visibility.
