Port Augusta Power Plant fire

7/03/2013

CFS and MFS crews were called to a fire at the Port Augusta Power Plant at Port Paterson overnight.

The alarm was raised just before 8pm with fire crews arriving a short time later to find a fire in the ducting system and a diesel fuel spill on the second floor.

About 45 CFS and MFS firefighters took just over three hours to declare the area safe and contain the fire which was confined to that section of the power plant.

The fire did not disrupt power supplies and damage is estimated at around $25,000.
