See emergency service teams in action

16/11/2012

The Mawson Country Fire Service (CFS) Group is preparing for a fire fighting demonstration on Monday night to showcase the capability of emergency equipment used in incident and response operations.

The demonstration which is open to the public will be held at the Kangarilla recreation ground and introduce new CFS members to emergency equipment and familiarise brigades with scenarios they may encounter during an emergency.

The night will include rural fire fighting activities in partnership with other agencies to highlight the range of equipment used in emergency situations.

CFS Chief Officer Greg Nettleton, who will attend the demonstration, said it will offer a chance to showcase the rural fire fighting capability of the CFS and its cooperation with other agencies to keep their communities safe.

"The CFS is supported by several emergency services that collectively work in what are often difficult and dangerous conditions," Mr Nettleton said.

"The evening demonstration is designed to bring our emergency services together in a staged event to highlight the equipment used in incidents and show how numerous agencies can work together as a team.

"This will also be an ideal opportunity for members of the public to speak with CFS personnel about bushfire safety in the lead up to summer."

The public are invited to view the demonstration which will include a static display of emergency equipment and fire trucks, rural fire fighting displays on the oval and a range of drills carried out by emergency personnel.

The event will start at 7.00pm on the Kangarilla Oval at 1992 Kangarilla Road, Kangarilla, held on Monday 19 November.
