Saturday, November 11 at 3.15pm:
At 1.40 this afternoon, three CFS crews were called to a crop and stubble fire on Belalie East Road at Washpool, near Jamestown in the Mid North.
The cause is a suspected bearing failure on a header. The 14 hectare fire destroyed the header caused approximately $400,000 damage.
The fireground is now controlled and are mopping up and cooling the remains of the header.
CFS advises primary producers to regularly inspect bearings, and clear residue and crop build up on headers to prevent overheating.2017-11-11 Ali Martin
