Wilmington Fire
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises there is currently a bushfire burning in the Mount Remarkable National Park, located near Melrose, approximately 67kms north-east of Port Pirie in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
The fire is currently burning in inaccessible terrain. Approximately 25 CFS and Department of Environment and Water firefighters, supported by eight aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft have been working to extinguish the fire. Firefighting operations will continue over the coming days to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
The fire currently poses no threat to the surrounding communities and firefighters are confident that the fire edge is secured. Smoke may be visible to community members in the surrounding areas over the coming days.
