Tooperang Bushfire

The CFS advises people in and around the area of Tooperang, 10 kms east of Mount Compass in the Fleurieu Peninsula., Of a fire burning off several points from Nangkita Road, that CFS crews are working to extinguish this uncontrolled grass and scrub fire. Refer to the CFS website at: cfs.sa.gov.au for the most up to date warning information. 200 CFS volunteers are responding to the fire, supported by seven aircraft, SA Police and SA Ambulance Service personnel are also on scene supporting firefighters. The fire has burned approximately 10 hectares after starting at 16:37pm this afternoon.. This fire is causing smoke to drift over the area and members of the community are urged to take care, particularly if driving. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary. Roads have been closed due to this incident and it is expected they will be in place for some time.
