Riverlea Park Fire

CFS Firefighters remain on scene at Riverlea Park, along the Port Wakefield Highway, near Virginia, in the Adelaide Plains, north of Adelaide, South Australia.

Approximately 15 CFS volunteers on 5 trucks assisted by National Parks crews are working through the hot conditions to continuing monitoring the fire and working to extinguish several hot spots and large trees within the fireground. With heightened fire weather expected today and into early next week, Firefighters will continue attending this fire until it is deemed safe.

Community members are urged to remember this is still an active fireground and to stay away where possible. This includes the use of drones over the fireground which is strictly prohibited and highly dangerous as it impacts the ability to use firefighting aircraft.

Roads are now open around this incident; however, this may change at short notice. The community are encouraged to take care when driving in the area as smoke will remain in the area over the coming days, and emergency services will be working on and around roads. People travelling along roads within the area need to exercise caution and drive to local conditions. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
