The CFS continues to respond to a grass fire, approximately 2km north east of Murray Bridge in the Murraylands of South Australia.
Approximately 45 CFS volunteers on 10 trucks have undertaken extensive work to stop the spread of the fire, preventing it from impacting neighbouring properties. Firefighters have also been supported by SA Police, SA State Emergency Service and the Rural City of Murray Bridge. Aircraft also played a vital role in reaching hard to access areas along the riverbank.
Firefighters will remain on scene until the area is deemed safe, working to extinguish any hotspots and strengthen control lines. The fire has burnt approximately 3 hectares.
Fire Investigators have attended the scene, with the cause of the fire yet to be determined.
Roads are currently open around this incident however this may change at short notice. Continue to monitor road closures at: traffic.sa.gov.au
This fire has been contained and does not currently pose a risk to the community. However, anyone in the area is encouraged to stay alert using multiple sources of information, including the CFS website at cfs.sa.gov.au.
Smoke may impact roads in the area, and visibility may be reduced. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
