Keilira Bushfire
The Country Fire Service (CFS) continues responding to a grass fire approximately 30 kilometres west of Padthaway in the Upper South East of South Australia.
CFS volunteers on six trucks, supported by Forestry firefighting resources, remain on scene working to fully extinguish the fire and ensure, which has burnt approximately 114 hectares.
Fantastic efforts by crews yesterday successfully stopped the forward rate of spread. Firefighters with the support of heavy machinery worked throughout the night, strengthening containment lines and extinguishing hotspots across the fireground. Operations will continue throughout the coming days, with support of firefighting aircraft, with precautions being taken given the predicted elevated fire conditions forecasted over the next few days.
This fire currently poses no risk to community however, anyone in the the area is encouraged to stay alert via cfs.sa.gov.au
At this time, roads in the area remain open, however conditions may change without notice. Smoke is affecting visibility across several local roads, and motorists are urged to drive with caution and avoid the area where possible.
This remains an active fireground, and the CFS strongly advises the community to stay clear to ensure the safety of both the public and emergency personnel.
