Coulta Fire

The CFS will continue to actively monitor a grass fire on the Flinders Highway, approximately 16 km north of Coffin Bay on the Lower Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, into the coming days.

Approximately 60 CFS volunteers, supported by firefighting aircraft conducting water bombing and aerial observation, have contained the fire. CFS volunteers are also being supported by SA Police. Crews are currently on scene working to extinguish hotspots and strengthen containment lines with machinery ensure the area is safe. Firefighters successfully protected assets at Camp Nyroca.

Roads are currently open around this incident; however, this may change at short notice. Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
