Coulta Fire

The CFS has been actively working to extinguish a grass fire on the Flinders Highway, approximately 16 km north of Coffin Bay on the Lower Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.

CFS volunteers on 13 trucks, supported by SA Police, Metropolitan Fire Service, State Emergency Service and aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft, are on scene working to extinguish the fire which has now been halted. Quick work from emergency service personnel has saved nearby structures, a camp and crops. Crews will remain on scene overnight to continue reinforcing containment lines and ensuring the scene remains safe.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

A tiered road closure system has been implemented for community safety and access may not be possible to all areas until they are deemed safe. Follow the directions of emergency service personnel and signage.
