Birchmore Fire near Nepean Bay on Kangaroo Island
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises there is currently a bushfire burning at Birchmore, located near Nepean Bay, on Kangaroo Island.
The fire is currently burning in grass and scrub. 114 CFS and Department for Environment firefighters and local Farm Fire units, supported by five aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft have been working to extinguish the fire. Firefighting operations will continue overnight and tomorrow to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
Firefighters are confident that the fire edge is mostly secured however there is still work for firefighters to complete. Smoke may be visible to community members in the surrounding areas overnight and tomorrow. We encoruage the local communuty to keep an eye on the progress of this fire and any further information provided by CFS until this fire is fully extinguished..
