Damage Caused to Home in Callington Fire

Just after 130am this morning crews from the SA Country Fire Service (CFS) were responded to reports of a fire in a home on Murray Street Callington, after a neighbour called triple zero and alerted the resident who was home at the time the fire started.

On arrival to the home local crews found a fire going well in a galvanised iron cottage, that was connected to the main brick veneer home via a carport and responded another three appliance and a Bulk Water Carrier.

In total the more than 25 firefighter, some wearing breathing apparatus managed to contain the fire within 40 mins.

Due to the hard work by fire fighters damage was contained to the cottage and one room of the main home. The rest of the home suffered extensive smoke damage.

The early dollar damage estimate has been set at $120 000.

Fire Cause Investigators from SA Police and SA Metropolitan Fire Service have been requested to attend and will be on scene this morning. At this stage the cause of the fire has not been determined.

No one was injured in the fire.

SA Police and SA Ambulance were also on scene.
