Victorian bushfire smoke drifting over SA
20/02/2013
The Country Fire Service (CFS) and the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) are continuing to receive numerous calls from various parts of the State reporting the presence of smoke.
The CFS advises that the smoke has been drifting over the Victorian border from a bushfire near Edenhope, about 50 kilometres east of Naracoorte in South Australia's south-east.
The smoke has been reported in Adelaide, the Barossa Valley, the Adelaide Hills and over a wide area across the state including the Murraylands, Flinders Ranges and Mid North.
CFS State Coordinator Mark Thomason said there is no cause for alarm because the smoke is posing no threat in any of these areas.
"However, residents and travellers are advised to remain vigilant at all times during the Fire Danger Season and if they are still uncertain about the origin of the smoke, or notice any flames, to ring Triple Zero immediately," Mr Thomason said.
