BALAKLAVA PRIMARY SCHOOL FIRE

A fire has destroyed a classroom and damaged two others at a primary school in Balaklava in the state's Mid North.

The CFS was notified just after 2.30am with crews arriving at Wallace Street a short time later to find part of the school well involved in the blaze.

About 45 firefighters took about two hours to bring the fire under control but despite their efforts the damage is estimated at around $300,000.

The cause has yet to be determined and is still being investigated.
