House Destroyed at Indulkana

Firefighters from the SA Country Fire Service were responded to a structure fire at Indulkana in the APY Lands in the states far north west just before 7:30 this evening.

On arrival the more than 10 firefighters found the home fully ablaze and quickly got to work undertaking operations to extinguish the fire.

Unfortunately due to the ferocity of the fire and despite the hard work and quick actions by firefighters the home was fully destroyed.

One person was believed to be home when the fire started and was uninjured by the fire.

Early dollar damage estimates have been put at $500 000, both MFS and SA Police Fire Cause Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators will investigate the fire in the morning.

At this stage the cause of the fire has not been determined but is listed as suspicious.
