CFS training in Onkaparinga Gorge will cause smoke
8/11/2013
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises that smoke will be visible from a training exercise taking place this Sunday 10 November in the Onkaparinga Gorge, and that residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed.
CFS Regional Training Officer Megan McArthur said this exercise is an important part of the Mawson CFS Group's training.
"This exercise will provide a realistic scenario for CFS firefighters to train in," Miss McArthur said.
"The operational exercises undertaken will further develop CFS firefighting skills in combatting rural fire and incident management within the CFS Group."
The training will be held in the Onkaparinga Gorge on Piggott Range Road and there will be a large number of emergency service vehicles in the area during this time.
"The community should not be concerned by the presence of emergency services vehicles and CFS personnel in the Onkaparinga Gorge area," Miss McArthur said.
"Live fire training will be undertaken that will generate smoke, which will be visible for the duration of the training".
The exercise will commence at 09:00am and continue until midday.
