If you are at home

  • If you are located within the warning area, you should immediately move inside your home or the nearest building. People who shelter indoors are much safer than those people who remain outside.
  • Bring your pets inside.
  • Close windows, doors, and air vents (this may only assist with reduced exposure for hours or a few days, as outside air will eventually enter the home).
  • Use appropriate air conditioner settings in the home and vehicles to prevent outside air coming in.

If you are travelling

  • Do not return.
  • If you are currently driving in the warning area, close the windows and vents in your vehicle and turn off the air conditioning.
