Hay stack, shed and tractor destroyed in fire at Murdinga

Just after midnight this morning, the CFS were alerted to a Hay stack fire on Barwell Road, Murdinga.

Two CFS fire trucks, several farm fire fighting units and around 15 CFS volunteer firefighters responded and found the hay piles inside the shed and a tractor fully involved upon arrival.

Crews will monitor the fire over the next few days for any reignitions to ensure no risk to surrounding area.

Approximate dollar assessment of damage is $220,000.

The cause of the fire is believed to be from wet hay that self combusted in a hay shed.
