Structure fire at Kersbook

Shortly after 11 o’clock this morning, CFS crews were alerted to a structure fire on Wattle road, Kersbrook, where a solar panel had caught alight and begun spreading along the wall of the structure.

Volunteers on one truck from Kersbrook brigade, responded to find a well equipped property owner had used a fire extinguisher to stop the spread of the fire.

It’s believed the fire caused about $10,000 damage but would likely have been much greater without the quick thinking of the property owner. Crews will remain on scene to extinguish any hot spots.

This is a clear example, where the installation of appropriate home fire safety equipment has been used to assist with the initial suppression of the fire by the owner, lessoning the overall impact to the home.

No one was injured.
