The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) Training Department is a Registered Training Organisation, responsible for the professional development of members of the CFS, as well as for the provision of training to other members of emergency services organisations. The CFS has established partnerships with the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service, (NTFRS) and Bushfires NT in the Northern Territory to assist in the provision of nationally accredited training to their volunteer members.
As a provider of Nationally Accredited Training, all Career Staff and Volunteer Trainer-Assessors are highly trained and accredited in the delivery of operational and incident management training. Training personnel are supported by dedicated Facilities, Catering, Grounds, Administrative and Data Management staff to ensure the effective and efficient coordination of all training services.
Personnel wishing to make contact with members of the Training Department will find their contact details on this website. CFS Volunteers should make every effort to communicate through their Regional Training Officers in the first instance, unless the matter can only be addressed via State Training Officers or Administrative Staff.
CFS has a total of 21 Career Training Officers located across the State, with Regional Training Officers located at each of the six Regional Offices and State Training Officers located at the State Training Centre, Brukunga.
During the calendar year 2011, of the 10,214 brigade firefighters in the CFS, 6832 attended formal training, resulting in 39,466 course accreditations. Of these, 15,486 were Nationally Accredited, with the majority coming from the Public Safety Training Package. CFS could not maintain such delivery without the dedicated efforts of hundreds of volunteer Trainer-Assessors.
To support the coordination of the delivery of training across the State, the CFS maintains a Training Course Calendar, drawing live data directly from the Training Administration System of all pre-planned courses.
As a registered Training Organisation, we welcome feedback on our services and in particular, we welcome feedback on this website as we continue to add information relevant to our key stakeholders. Those wishing to provide feedback can do so by e-mailing the Manager Training.
