Fire Danger Season Dates
The dates of the 2011-2012 Fire Danger Season have been declared by the CFS Chief Officer and will be published in the Government Gazette in October 2011 and in the Public Notices section of the Advertiser on the same date. From the dates listed fire restrictions under the Fire and Emergency Services Act, 2005 apply throughout South Australia.
The following table lists the dates for the start and completion of each Fire Danger Season within each of the Fire Ban Districts in South Australia. These dates were declared after consideration of recommendations from Bushfire Management Committees.

Use of Fire on Government Reserves
ForestrySA
No fires of any sort are permitted to be lit by members of the public on ForestrySA land, including all Forest Reserves between November 1st and April 30th in any year. For further information contact ForestrySA Ranger staff on 08 8521 1700.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources
Fire Bans
- No wood fires are permitted in parks during the Fire Danger Season. Some parks have year-round bans on wood fires.
- All open fires, liquid fuel and gas stoves are banned in all parks on Total Fire Ban days as declared by the Country Fire Service (CFS) and broadcast on the radio. Parks may be closed to visitors on Total Fire Ban days. Contact the CFS hotline on 1300 362 361 (only available within Australia).
Fire Restrictions
- For information on the 2009/2010 National Parks and Wildlife Reserves and Wilderness Protection Areas contact the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
- The purpose of DENR fire restrictions is to ensure the safety of visitors using the reserves, and in the interests of protecting the reserves and neighbouring properties.
