Community Programs

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) Community Education Unit provides information to residents living in high bushfire risk areas by a number of programs.

These programs provide residents with the opportunity to raise their awareness of their bushfire risk, bushfire behaviour, how to protect their house and property, personal safety and bushfire survival planning.

Bushfire Blitz Meeting

Bushfire Blitz meetings are informative and interactive presentations of 45 minutes duration.  The meeting focuses on the area's bushfire risk, bushfire behaviour, how to protect your house and property, personal safety and bushfire survival planning.

Bushfire Ready Meeting

'Bushfire Ready' meetings are an awareness and information session for the general public. These meetings last 90 minutes and focus on the area's bushfire risk, bushfire behaviour, how to protect your house and property, personal safety, bushfire survival planning and include a video and light refreshments.

Community Fire Safe

The Community Fire Safe Program is designed to assist residents living in high bushfire threat areas by forming community action groups.

These groups may consist of just a few families living in the same street or area who face a common bushfire threat. With the assistance of a CFS Community Education Officer, residents learn about fire behaviour and bushfire preparedness. Community Fire Safe Groups develop survival plans and community strategies that reduce the bushfire threat and increase the community's preparedness.  These meetings are not published publicly.

Community Fire Safe Information Open Day

These Open Days give residents the opportunity to talk to CFS Staff and Volunteers and gather information about Bushfire Survival, Identify Community Assets at Risk from Bushfire and provide suggestions about the Community Plan.  This Presentation will also include the Fire Danger Ratings and Information/Warning Message System.

Bushfire Planning Workshops

These special sessions or "Workshops" are for industry or special interest groups where detailed bushfire information is tailored and structured specifically to suit their purposes

It provides an opportunity for members of groups across the district to get together and share ideas, issues and concerns, and to feel part of something bigger than their own street.
