Our Equipment
SA Country Fire Service (CFS) provides a range of standard equipment to its Brigades to enable them to fulfill their legislative responsibilities. The majority of this equipment is funded from funds provided by the Community Emergency Services Fund otherwise known as the 'Emergency Services Levy'. The types of resources provided fall into the following broad categories;
- Emergency Response Vehicles - Fire appliances, specialist vehicles and support vehicles and the equipment they carry, (stowage).
- Buildings - Fire stations, Group control centres, Incident control centres and Regional Offices.
- Personal Protective Equipment - Clothing, helmets, footwear, gloves and eye protection.
- Respiratory Equipment - Breathing Apparatus, Cylinders and breathing air compressors;
- Road Crash Rescue Equipment - Hydraulic rescue equipment, often referred to by the general public as the "Jaws of Life" which is a brand name for one.
- HAZMAT Equipment - Resources used in incidents involving hazardous substances.
