Chain of Command
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS ) has a duty and responsibility to manage potentially hazardous or dangerous incidents in a disciplined, coordinated, safe and efficient manner. A rank structure and chain of command was established to assist with this.
The 'Chain of Command´ structure aims to ensure that all duties, responsibilities, and delegations associated with each rank are clearly defined at each level.
The Chief Officer has the ultimate responsibility for CFS operations and may therefore assume command of any CFS operations for the prevention, control or suppression of fire or the protection of life of property.
